Not too long ago, a good friend of mine lost her father to cancer ... I had no idea how to console her ... no idea how to let her know I was thinking of her during this difficult time ... I desperately wanted to create something meaningful ... something thoughtful ... something that would… Continue reading Let His Light Shine

A couple of weeks ago, for my weekly read aloud, we read a story that originated from Japan. When I dug around for some Japanese artists, Yayoi Kusama's name came up ... here's a couple of examples we created based on her creations ... I personally love how colourful they are! The Leaves Are Falling
This is one of Madilyn's recent creations. I believe they did a similar project at school. She prepared the background one day, then added her silhouette trees and the colourful leaves the next day!
This is Madilyn's dragasaur. The pink clouds at the top are made out of cotton candy. This dragasaurus breathes out blue cotton candy. His back is lined with a long row of colouful lollipops because he is a candy dragasaurus. He has a pink gumball eye and pink gumball claws. Madilyn's Dragasaurus

Mama Bear & Her Baby
In Science, Mackenzie was learning a little bit more about the black bear. Of course, we had to tie in some art to her learning. So we created this bear footprint art piece. For the bears, we made and used cardstock stencils. She still has evidence of the chalk pastels she used on her face… Continue reading Mama Bear & Her Baby
