It’s Thankful Thursday! I can’t say enough good things about our warm winter temps lately!
When November hit, this year, I felt such dread about the upcoming winter! I whined and complained and whined and complained some more! Last winter was rough! Boat loads of snow and cold, cold, cold!
My complaining and whining got bad enough, that even Mackenzie had enough!
“Mom, you can’t choose to live in Saskatchewan if you hate winter THAT much!”
In our study of the solar system for grade 6 Science, it became even clearer to me why there are seasons, and why our winters seem so incredibly long here in the northern hemisphere … here I was whimpering about the tilt of the earth on its axis in relation to the sun as it makes its annual revolution … man oh man, could I or should I REALLY be getting in such a tizzy about winter when it was clearly something far, far, far beyond my circle of control?
The answer was obvious.
And now, we’ve actually been blessed with plenty of snow to play in this winter and temperatures that make it easy to get outside (with a few exceptions, of course).
January, generally one of the hardest months of the year to endure, was bearable, even downright pleasant at times. February’s shaping up pretty good so far too!
One day, I hope to take the advice of my five-year-old. She seems to think it would be a real good idea to live somewhere warmer for the winter, then come back here to beautiful Saskatchewan for the summers!
Thanks for that great advice, sweet Cambri! Let’s do that one day!
Today, I am thankful for warm winter temps!
What are you grateful for today?
