Tucker, the Dog

Written by Jasper Belhumeur, Grade 7 – October 13, 2022

We were going to Grandma and Grandpa’s with Honey the dog, but when we got there, we remembered Grandma and Grandpa got a new little dog. Since we got Honey, the only ‘dog’ that she had ever been with was Hiway, and he is not very welcoming. We did let her see Tucker though. It turns out Tucker is a lot like Honey, because he lives with a big dog named Ginger who does not like to play with Tucker. Honey likes to play, and Tucker likes to play. So, when Honey met Tucker, they were instant friends. The next time Honey saw him, it was at our house but this time, there was Hiway. Hiway hated Tucker and he started peeing everywhere and would not let Tucker upstairs. On the other hand, Honey and Tucker would continue to play. However, the next morning Hiway went downstairs to Grandma and Grandpa’s room and barked until Grandpa opened the door and then went inside and started flipping over pillows searching for Tucker. Hiway had to be kept away from Tucker. The next time we saw them we were camping with them and we decided to keep Hiway in a separate tent from Tucker. The next time they came, Hiway finally had established the rules with Tucker. They still do not play, and Tucker is still not allowed upstairs but at least Hiway has stopped flipping over pillows.
